TabToBook privacy policy
Effective: October 24, 2026 · Applies to the TabToBook browser extension, version 0.1 and later (free version).
The short version
TabToBook does not collect, sell, share or transmit any personal data. It has no servers, no accounts, no analytics and no ads. Everything it does happens in your browser on your device.
What the extension reads, and when
- It reads a web page only when you ask it to: by clicking its toolbar button, choosing its right-click menu item, or pressing its keyboard shortcut. It uses Chrome's
activeTabpermission, so it can only see the tab you invoked it on, and only until that tab navigates away. - It extracts the article text and images from that page, shows you a preview, and builds an EPUB file in your browser.
- To embed images, your browser downloads them from the same addresses the page already uses. No other network requests are made, and nothing is sent to us or to any third party.
What is stored on your device
- The extracted article is kept in your browser's local extension storage so the preview page can show it. It is deleted automatically after 24 hours, or right away if you click "Discard".
- Your preferences (Amazon store region, whether to include images, whether to use a cover image) are kept in local extension storage.
- The EPUB file you download is saved to your Downloads folder, like any other download.
Amazon Send to Kindle
TabToBook can open Amazon's own Send to Kindle web page (for example https://www.amazon.com/sendtokindle) in a new tab. You sign in and upload the file there yourself. TabToBook never sees your Amazon credentials or your Kindle email address. Amazon's own privacy notice and terms apply to that page. TabToBook is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Amazon. Kindle is a trademark of Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates.
